What about Rhinebeck again ?

Post by PatGarrett »

A few fliers and I have discussed this, and contrary to popular belief, the Aerodrome is not dead....albeit Dayton caters to the US and Canadians for centralization, Rhinebeck helps include the Europeans...thats how I met my teamie Swordfish.....
Dayton's been what, 3 in a row now ?....how about making the next one Rhinebeck again, so that mebbe this old codger can meet up just one more time before I die (or before Rhinebeck dies)....
I started going to Rhinebeck in early 70's...it hasnt changed that much since then...isnt that what its all about ?...."time standing still" ???....Dayton cannot provide that atmosphere...(I been into Dayton/Andrews AFB years ago)....ya just cant beat a grass runway thats partially on a hill, with a big hump facing yer left turn....Dayton flatlands may be cool, but just dont cut it for this ol codger....
I can almost walk (hitch) to Rhinebeck if need be....Dayton's about a 4-5 hr drive, if I had a car.....can hitch that too, but dont seem as appealing...
I'd just like to see one more Rhinebeck, before the museum closes....and ask ME next time about hotels, etc....hell, Im a local here....Fishkill was WAY off Tiger...sorry.....shouldda targetted Kingston.....no big deal, a 50 cent river crossing...but saving 20 mins driving.....
And I still owe Tiger a drink(and other), and Mums (other stuff), Mike from Mass. a lunch, and Monkey a can of Dr Scholl's Foot Spray....and I'd like to kiss Fogel's wife on the cheek one more time....what a sweet lady !, and she puts up with him !!!!!!!!
Organizers, please think about this....Rhinebeck's days are probably numbered...and there are many of us on the right coast (closer to Eu too) from Canada to Fla....one more time for the Hudson Valley museum eh ?....
This is a place that will soon be lost to history, and time and economics.....lets have one more "last hurrah" there before its gone forever.....even my kids, now 30's have been there....

Respectfully,

Lt. Pat Garrett, RAC
