Rise of Flight for FREE

Post by US95Pickett »

S! all, thought you might like to know about the "NEW Unlimited Rise of Flight Demo".

The good news is the RoF Demo is the full version of the Rise of Flight game that you can play for an unlimited time! The bad news is that you can only fly the Spad 13 and the Albatros DVa; any other planes you must purchase in order to fly them. But if you wanted to fly the Rise of Flight game, well, you can't beat FREE and unlimited play time of the game, even though you are limited to just the Spad 13 and Alb. DVa if you didn't want to pay for any other planes.

So, check it out and enjoy!!!

EDIT: BEFORE following the steps listed below, go to the Rise of Flight forum and register: http://riseofflight.com/en/profile/registration After registering at the Rise of Flight forum, then follow the instructions below to install your free Rise of Flight game. Please note: the download is a LARGE file, approximately 3.7 gigabytes in size...
Dear Pilots,

Welcome to the NEW Unlimited Rise of Flight Demo! This version of Rise of Flight can be played for an unlimited time and features two flyable aircraft with full access to all their features. This should not be viewed as just a Demo, but more as a limited version of the Full game.

Unlike our previous Demo, you can now purchase and add new aircraft and content to the Unlimited ROF Demo. By downloading the Unlimited ROF Demo you can now build your own custom version of ROF by adding content at your own pace through the ROF Store.

The Unlimited ROF Demo includes the following.

- Flyable SPAD 13 and Albatros D.Va.
- Full Access to Single Player and Multiplayer Modes for each aircraft.
- Full Access to Career Mode for each aircraft.
- Full Access to Gunner Positions in Bombers and Recon Aircraft in Multiplayer.

Step 1: Download the Unlimited Rise of Flight Demo .exe from the link below and double click install.
Step 2: Run the ROF Launcher by double clicking the ROF shortcut which was put on your desktop.
Step 3: Once in the launcher, select your game Settings and then click on Update to check for any updates.
Step 4: Install any updates if available and then click on Start and Start one more time to launch the game.
Step 5: Click on "Register Demo or Activate Retail Copy" from the main screen in-game.
Step 6: Enter this code when registering your copy of the Demo.

Unlimited ROF Demo Key-Code: 77777-77777-77777-77777-77771

Download Unlimited ROF Demo Here!

We hope you enjoy,

S!

I agree Arnie. Also, the bombers are awsome.
We'll have to hook up sometime. I fly as Lexx2.
I'll keep an eye open for you.

Well, if it's free it's worth trying even though I don't like their "pay per plane" concept. :?
I will download it and check it out on some rainy summer evening. :geek:

Edit:
Eeek! It's a 3 GB download!! :o
Oh well, it will have to run all through the night then ...

S! all, rgr Swordfish, it's a large download but I think you will like it once you get it downloaded and installed. And you don't have to purchase any other planes and just stick with the Spad 13 and Alb DVa (the US95th RoF servers always has those 2 planes available to fly); plus, you can man a machine gun turret in any of the bombers or 2 seaters without purchasing those planes too.

You can also download it via Torrent: http://riseofflight.com/Forum/download/ ... p?id=20290 which is sometimes a faster download (shorter time required). You will need a torrent program, such as BitTorrent - http://www.bittorrent.com/ to download the RoF torrent file.

S! Pickett,

I have downloaded and installed RoF, I can start the game launcher and adjust the game settings but when I try to register/activate the game according to the instructions in the ROFdemo.txt file I get the following error message:

Error #14: Unable to connect to game server

Any ideas what could be wrong? :?
I have also tried without my ZoneAlarm firewall, but with the same result. :(

Best Regards

seems updating to direct x 9 or reinstalling direct x 9 might be worth a shot.

S! all, Swordfish, it sounds as if something is blocking the ports needed to play the RoF game and therefore your computer can't connect to the main RoF server. Try the following to see if it helps:

EDIT: BEFORE following the steps listed below, go to the Rise of Flight forum and register: http://riseofflight.com/en/profile/registration After registering at the Rise of Flight forum, then follow the instructions below to install your free Rise of Flight game. Please note: the download is a LARGE file, approximately 3.7 gigabytes in size...

Step 1: Download the Unlimited Rise of Flight Demo .exe from the link below and double click install (you have already done this).
Step 2: Run the ROF Launcher by double clicking the ROF shortcut which was put on your desktop.
Step 3: Once in the "Rise of Flight game launcher" do the following:
3a) click on the "Game settings" tab and make sure the "Modification On" box is UNCHECKED
3b) click on the "Network tab"
3b1) make sure it has your computers local ip address listed in the "IP list" box (usually it is already listed, such as 192.168.1.100)
3b2) make sure the "Game ports" are listed: TCP 28000, UDP 28000 and Downloader port TCP 28100
3b3) set your "Traffic limit" Incoming and Outgoing to the same or less than what your actual internet connection speed is (I have mine set to 256Kb/s for both incoming and outgoing)
Step 4: the game needs a few ports open so that it can connect to the main RoF server; make sure the following ports are open in both your router and your firewall to your gaming computer:
TCP port: 28000
UDP port: 28000
TCP port: 28100
Step 5: Install any updates if available and then click on Start and Start one more time to launch the game.
Step 6: Click on "Register Demo or Activate Retail Copy" from the main screen in-game.
Step 7: Enter this code when registering your copy of the Demo.

Unlimited ROF Demo Key-Code: 77777-77777-77777-77777-77771

Hope this helps!

S! Pickett,

I am about to give up on this. I have followed your updated and more detailed game setting instructions and made sure that all the ports are open in my router. Even with Windows and ZoneAlarm firewalls turned off I still get "Error #14: Unable to connect to game server".

I have also downloaded the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Microsofts web site and tried to update DirectX as FegalGT suggested, but it tells me that I already have the latest version. :?

Also, looking at the posts in the forum link in FegalGT's post, it seems like I am not the only one with this problem.
I guess I'll stick to Red Baron 3D, it works well on all my three computers. This modern stuff is obviously not meant for me ...

S! all, Swordfish, the only thing I can think of that could cause a problem with your RoF install is if you didn't install any and all accessory programs the game wants to install at install time - especially the DX version. Some people don't install the DX included with the RoF install because they already have a version of DX installed, but the version that comes with the RoF game is necessary, so you should install it even though you may already have a version of DX installed.

A few people have had problems installing the unlimited time version of the RoF game, but the majority have had no problems at all.

If you still have the RoF install program downloaded, try to uninstall your RoF game, make sure to delete the Rise of Flight installation folder (and any files left over from the uninstall if there are any) and then re-install RoF as an administrator, including the included version of DX, etc. and the first time you start it, start it as an administrator.

Good luck, hope you get it working ok, I think you will enjoy it if you can get it running.
